Peanut Brittle

2 cups sugar
1 cup white syrup
2 cups raw peanuts
2 T. butter
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Bring 1/2 cup water to a boil.  
Then add 2 cups sugar and 1 cup syrup until dissolved and boil till it spins a thread.
Add the peanuts, and cook slowly till it turns a golden brown.
Take it from fire and add the soda and butter and vanilla.  Stir quickly.
Spread on a cookie sheet well buttered.  Place in a cool place till it hardens.  
290°  thermometer.
